Here's a conversion of Heller's old F3 Brabham kit. I've followed Jack Brabham's racing exploits since I became interested in racing way back in the mid-60's. Elsewhere in this forum I posted the building of Jack's Indy Cooper. Here I'll give a quick WIP of his 1966 F2 championship racer...
I started with one new and one glue bomb BT18s...
the glue bomb would become Clay Regazonni's BT18 in F3 form and the other would be Jack's Brabham-Honda...
Clay's F3 car went together easily as that is box-stock (sorta)...
the 1 liter Honda engine required a bit of scratch-bashing from a Tamiya Honda 2000S...
I detailed the fuel injected engine with spark plug wires, fuel lines, and water lines...
the exhaust was solid solder with aluminum tail pipes...
the dash was detailed with decals, bezel rings made from thin wire, and filled with Testors Clear Parts Cement...
brake lines to the calipers and a detail Hewland decal add to the realism...
I had to vac-form a new windscreen for the Regga car, but all eventually fit together...
These will join the other two examples of this excellent kit which hold its age very well against even some of the 1/20 scale kits of today! I enjoyed the builds and thank the designer of the kit!
