I was digging in my stash and found a model that I had to think about ,, This was a model of the smaller MONTE CARLO by MPC . you know the one molded in blue that tells you ,you can cut out the panels for the removeable "T-TOP" . I acquired this as a glue bomb at a yard sale. When I disassembled it the roof became toast in this area. Now my thought was , "should I build a what ift ype and do a convertible"? Naw , I liked the coupe and set about restoring the roof. The bumpers had to have the thin chrome strips that were in the car to start with . I always liked this car and this was the first time I had managed to get one .I used EVERGREEN .030 sheet on the roof , molded in hot water and cut to fit .Then I under pinned all that with a sheet of formed .010 brass . Then brass wire was imbedded in the "A" pillars (they kept breaking) And the window frame for the quarter window was replaced with square brass rod formed and cut to fit . Now as builds go this wasn,t my best effort to date , but , she looks good in"MIDNIGHT BLUE METALLIC"TESTORS LACQUER"With a white and light buff (RADOME TAN , MODELMASTER FLAT)interior.I took some aluminum I had that fit in the grooves in the bumpers and sanded and ground it to shape and polished it to a high sheen .All in all another "MISTAKE" saved to enhance MY collection. oldcarguy
