GOING BACK-WE ALL DO IT, RIGHT ??

I was re-reading some of my old SCALE-AUTO mags and , discovered something that clicked . I have owned at least three real 57 CHEVROLETS . I have enough pictures to choke a whale .Do you know what is the most FORGOTTEN detail item on this car ? Bet you don,t ! Look carefully at any model or picture of an almost stock or pure stock CHEVY from that year . What,s missing in the overall picture ? Okay ,okay , I,ll tell you , WHERE are the COWL VENTS ??? The 57 CHEVY didn,t have any !!. Now , look at the headlights .In a well molded model , if you are lucky , you will see what looks like mesh over the headlights . No , incoming air for ventilation did NOT come throught the engine bay . It came through vent tubes that came from over the headlights , snaked OVER the wheel arch toward the outside of the inner fender toward the outside skin . They then entered the end of the firewall between the end  where the brake master cylinder , on one side and the heater core on the other were located .There were baffles (vacuum operated ) inside to allow the heater to use cabin air only for heating the occupants . That,s why no cowl vents . Look to your headlight trim from now on when you detail the front of these cars .That,s a spot that I have seen that EVERYONE ,( including yours truly) have failed to include in the detailing . Why not ? most folks who never owned one would never know they were there . They being two screened areas with a center divider ABOVE the headlights .It,s there , NO JOKE !!! Thought you CHEVY builders would appreciate this bit of trivia .      oldcarguy
