Mercedes warmed the crowds up at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show by displaying the SL 63 AMG, but next month at the 2012 New York Auto Show, things will be heating up as the company will be bringing an even more powerful version for the current SL-Class: the SL 65 AMG. The new version is set to go on sale in July 2012 and will be priced starting at $200,000.
While the current SL 63 AMG is powered by a 5.5-liter V8 engine that delivers a total of 537 HP and 590 lb-ft of torque, the SL 65 AMG Mercedes will be powered by the same engine as in the current SL65 AMG: a 6.0-liter V12 engine that will deliver about 620 HP. This engine is required because, when equipped with the AMG Performance package, the SL 63 AMG delivers 564 HP and 663 lb-ft of torque and the SL 65 AMG needs to be far superior.
Stay tuned as more details on the Mercedes SL 65 AMG will be revealed closer to the opening of the 2012 New York Auto Show.
